Some individuals have difficulty fully understanding and expressing why they are angry. Anger may be displayed as tantrums, "meltdowns", shutting down and other unhealthy ways. The goal of anger management is not to eliminate anger. Instead, through therapy, Dr. King will help determine what is causing the anger, explore what emotions and thoughts lie beneath this anger, and practice how to control it. Anxiety
Anxiety is another uncomfortable emotion that is necessary because it helps us to avoid danger. However, being overly anxious limits us. The goal of anxiety management is not to become "fearless". Instead, Dr. King will provide you with methods to reduce your anxiety and prevent it from becoming overwhelming. Depression/Mood DisordersEveryone has moments of feeling sad. But when sadness lasts for days or weeks, includes feelings of helplessness, and significantly interferes with your life, it may be depression. Children and adolescents who become extremely irritable, angry, and often have intense outbursts may have Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder. Dr. King treats Depressive Disorders and other Mood Disorders though increasing awareness of what thoughts lead to changes in mood and providing techniques to regulate your thoughts and moods. Family TherapyJust as every family is different, family therapy is not the same for everyone. Therapy may include parents, siblings, partners, and other members who reside in the home. At times, a combination of individual therapy and family therapy is the most beneficial method to effectively address a concern. Parent ConsultsParenting can be stressful, particularly when children and adolescents have disruptive behaviors.
